East
Cobb Park directly benefits our community and has been possible
because of the community's ongoing volunteer and fundraising
efforts. The land will forever remain a park, and gives us
a place to play, exercise, relax, enjoy the outdoors, and
gather with friends and family. The park needs your continued
help and support to keep this dream alive and to continue
to thrive.

The park is maintained by Cobb County Parks and Recreation.
However, there is much additional work related to events planning,
fundraising and public relations that is volunteered by individuals
and organizations.
Friends for the East Cobb Park is a volunteer
organization made up of Officers, a Board of
Trustees, and Advisory Board. Committees have been formed
to support the growth of the park in many aspects.
Committees include:
- Special Events
- Annual Auction Fundraiser
- Ultimate Playdates
- Movie Nights
- Holiday Lights
- Fundraising
- Communications and Marketing
- Site Development
- Donations
Most committee meetings occur monthly or quarterly, depending
on the level of activity at the time.
We are currently seeking volunteers for
all committees and the Junior Advisory Board. If you or someone you know are interested
in volunteering your time or service to the park, please contact info@eastcobbpark.org
Junior Advisory Board
The Junior Advisory Board (JAB) of the Friends for the East
Cobb Park plans fundraisers and works with the faculty and
students at their schools to spread the word about the park.
Being on the JAB is a great way to have fun, experience leadership,
and work to make "your park" and community a better
place!
In the past, some of the JAB
fundraisers have included selling pastries, coffee, and hot
chocolate in the park during the fall; organizing a student-faculty
basketball tournament; and selling ice cream and bottled water
in the park during the summer. The JAB also marches in the annual
East Cobber Parade and man a booth at the East Cobber Festival.
In 2004, the JAB raised money at the festival by selling flowerpots
that children could decorate. Plants and floral pens to fill the flowerpots were also available for purchase.
Fundraising
Volunteers can help the park by planning fundraising events at local garden clubs, schools or Neighborhood Associations. At
right, the East Cobb Park receives $2500 from Dickerson Middle
School! Individuals or Businesses can also make
monetary donations to the park online or via mail.
