year’s event was so successful that this year’s date is being moved forward into October
to better provide for additional accommodations at the Indian Hills Club. Additionally, the
menu has been changed to include heavy appetizers. You can look forward to a wonderful event!

East
Cobb Civitan Club is a volunteer organization dedicated to community service and aid to
the mentally & physically challenged. They were chartered in 1986 and have raised thousands of
dollars to support Emory Hospital’s efforts to detect metabolic disorders at birth to prevent
developmental disabilities. Additionally, they have raised money for the Civitan International
Research Center on the UAB campus in Birmingham. The Research Center is dedicated to the prevention
of developmental disabilities, as well as improving the lives for individuals with developmental
disabilities. Civitans provide $1,000,000 annually to the research center which
is then leveraged and matched 20 times over to fund their efforts.
Friends
of the East Cobb Park is the volunteer organization responsible for purchasing, developing
and donating the land of the East Cobb Park to Cobb County. They continue to develop the park
through the addition of pavilions, playground equipment, walking trails, overlooks and bridges. They
also sponsor a variety of community events in the park.
This auction is the largest fundraiser for these two organizations, typically grossing over $20,000
per event. To date, the East Cobb Civitans have donated over $85,000 to the East Cobb Park
through these efforts. Additional donations have supported the Salvation Army, the Center for
Family Resources, Must Ministries, The Center for Children & Young Adults, Camp Big Heart (a
2 week camp for the developmentally disabled), The Buck Craft Scholarship at KSU and the Civitan
International Research Center at UAB.
